8th April 2009.
From Oodnadatta we headed south via Mt Barry to Coober Pedy and dirt road was still pretty good. The caravan and 4DW were the dirtiest they had ever been after doing over 700kms on The Oodnadatta Track then down to Coober Pedy and we were welcomed with an amazing desert sunset on our first night.

5th April 2009.
The Oodnadatta Track has a significant historical past as it runs close to the Old Ghan Railway line and the Overland Telegraph line. We'd met a few fellow travelers who had just come down The Oodnadatta Track who told us that it had just been graded and it was just like a highway and in perfect condition. They all had off-road camper trailers, but with reports from a few different sources telling us the same thing, we figured it would be safe to take the caravan, just drop the tyre pressures on the van down to 30psi, take it easy and everything should be sweet.

Early April, my hard drive crashed so couldn't do anyupdates, in fact couldn't do anything on the computer for a while.
Bought some new hardrives and it took a while to re-install all the software and recover all the data from our back-ups.
I can't recover any emails or our email address book, so can everyone that has contacted us prior to April or wants to keep intouch, please send me a quick email so that I can save you in my address book., Also anyone that sent us an email around early April, please send it again so that I can respond coz I know I received quite a few emails on the day my hard drive crashed that I hadn't responded to. |

We're in the middle of the outback surrounded by deserts and it's green and lush, what's going on?? What we didn't know, was that most of the roads into town were closed a few weeks ago due to flooding, so all the countryside around town is looking good.

2nd April 2009.
We're continuing further north into the outback and deserts, through some of South Australia's legendary outback tracks originally used to drove cattle down south to the main ports. We left the caravan in storage at Lyndhurst as we knew the tracks were not suitable for on-road caravans. Still no mobile phone coverage and no drinking water connections..
