Home Our Trip Victoria 50-The Grampians
50-The Grampians

9th March 2009.

Headed inland and what a change when we arrived at Halls Gap in the Grampians. Not a cloud in sight, no wind and temperatures up to 32 degrees, what pure bliss.

The Grampians:

The trip up to Halls Gap in The Grampians was a pleasure in every way, the weather was a treat, the caravan site was a nice bush retreat and the wildlife welcomed us to the valley surrounded by The Grampian Mountains.

Next morning and time to do some exploring. First thing we noticed was all the trees, although green and blossoming, were black and charcoaled from fire and upon further investigation, fire swept through the whole area in 2006 and the forests and vegetation is only now slowly recovering. Victoria has certainly had more than it's fair share of fires in the recent past. The views from the mountains were clouded by the haze from the recent Melbourne fires and the waterfalls were suffering from lack of rainfall. But oh, what awesome views.

Life On The Road:

Life on the road is still awesome and this continent never fails to amaze us with every twist and turn :)
Next, heading for South Australia, our last State before heading home to Perth and must admit, I'm not looking forward to getting home.
We're both really looking forward to catching up with family and friends, but not looking forward to the reality of getting back to suburbia and the realities of life. Marlene is looking forward  to getting home so she can attack the garden and we're still enjoying life Life On The Road.

Best wishes to Tony, our friend in Perth who has recently undergone surgery, get well and we'll see you soon mate.

Next stop, Mount Gambia in South Australia.........
